Dramatic Academy Spring Semester is filling up! Register today!

PTC’s Dramatic Academy classes begin March 26.

It’s time again for our Tiny Thespians and Youth Trouper performers to take over the Opera House stage with Penobscot Theatre’s Dramatic Academy production of The Little Prince!

This beloved classic now comes alive on stage as a play adaptation. The Little Prince tells the story of a world-weary aviator whose plane crashes, stranding him in the middle of the Sahara Desert. When a mysterious, regal little boy appears and asks him to draw a sheep, the aviator is annoyed and distracted from his crisis – unaware that he is about to have a transforming experience. By learning that ‘what is essential is invisible to the eye,’ the aviator comes to a new understanding of how to laugh, cry, and love again.  In PTC’s production, the students take center stage creating the imaginative world stars, planets, and unusual characters that make up the world of The Little Prince.

Returning Dramatic Academy student Sophia Mullins gives her experience a thumbs up!

Students ages 4 – 12 are invited to join us for our Spring semester classes beginning March 26th.  All classes will be taught by Director of Education and Outreach, Jasmine A. Ireland and will have a strong focus on movement and ensemble building.  Students will also learn how a narrative text is developed in to a stage play, as well as exploring some of the original french text by Antoine de Saint-Expury.  Classes will culminate in a fully produced performance of The Little Prince on Penobscot Theatre’s main stage!  A return student, Sophia Mullins says: “I love being part of The Penobscot Theatre. I meet so many new friends from all over. I really am looking forward to The Little Prince; I like to do some research about the play we are gonna do before we start rehearsal. Like right now I am reading the book The Little Prince to get a feel for our next performance.”
