Leapin’ Lizards! There are HOW many costumes in Penobscot Theatre’s Annie!?

Becoming Daddy Warbucks with Brendan Powers

Ever wonder what it takes to make theater magic? LOTS of hard work! There are many technical aspects that help create the spectacle you see on our stage.  One important element of this is the costume, makeup, and hair design.  For this season’s holiday production, Annie, veteran costume designer Rebecca Wright took on the challenge of creating costumes for an ensemble that plays multiple roles, a gaggle of orphans, some transgender casting, and of course one bald head and one curly red one.  Assisting Mrs. Wright in costume construction is Carol Fortier of Ellsworth, and harstylist Brandi Edgecomb of Bangor.  So what does the breakdown look like?  There are SIXTY-NINE costumes for a running cast of eighteen,  fourteen wigs, over thirty-five hats, and an innumerable number of scarves, gloves, shawls, and accessories.
