Come along for the ride in Becky’s New Car, a Maine premiere!

Becky’s New Car makes its Maine premiere.

Penobscot Theatre Company proudly presents the Maine premiere of Becky’s New Car, a fresh new comedy playing at the historic Bangor Opera House from October 17-November 4.

Playwright Steven Dietz expertly maps out this thoroughly original, insightfully comic ride down “the road not taken.” Becky is married, late 40’s, and working at a car dealership. When one night, by chance, she’s offered an opportunity to step into another life-she takes it-and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn’t dare.

PTC Artistic Director, Bari Newport directs this deviously delightful romp. She says, “This is a play, you will fall in love with. From the moment I read it, I wanted to experience it.”

New York based actress, Stacey Scotte plays “Becky”. Stacey’s New York credits include

Stacey Scott to star as Becky.

The House of Blue Leaves, Diminished Fifth, Stormy Weather, work at the NY Musical Theatre Festival and NY Fringe. Regional Theatre credits include productions at Florida Repertory Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre, and Sacramento Music Circus. Stacey has also worked extensively on cruise ships including the Silver Shadow and Norweigan Star. Film/Television credits include: Julie & Julia; Me & Will; Pretty Little Thing; The Carnivore’s Revenge; 30 Rock; The Practice; Unsolved Mysteries; Zoobilee Zoo. Stacey was also a 5 time contestant on The Gong Show.

The rest of the cast is made up by Ron Lisnet (To Kill A Mockingbird), Ken Stack (A Christmas Carol), Brad LaBree, Allen Adams (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde), Zoe Alexis Scott, and Alex Clausen.

In addition to a script new to Maine, the Opera House has been re-envisioned.  Lex Liang’s design includes a new seating arrangement in a configuration that brings the audience right into the action!  Check out the new house seating below!
